|Online Gaming will be the focus of World Telemedia, the conference and exhibition for the online premium entertainment and information services industry, it was announced yesterday. |
The conference will take place over three days, April 17th -19th, in Amsterdam, Holland. One of the most sought after speakers on the Internet and gambling Mickey Charles, CEO and President of The Sports Network, has agreed to present the keynote address at the conference. Mr. Charles will also be chairing four in-depth panel sessions specifically devoted to Online Gaming issues.
Toby Padgham, Managing Director of The Network for Online Commerce, the telemedia industry's global trade association, and organisers of the World Telemedia show, welcomed the opportunity to have Mr. Charles as the keynote speaker and chairman at this time.
``The time is right to do this,'' said Mr Padgham. ``For the past fourteen years, the World Telemedia show has had an unerring ability to focus on where money is being made in online entertainment. Europe's telemedia SMS ring tone phenomenon is just the latest example. Mickey Charles clearly recognises, as do we, the outstanding potential of sports and gambling to make mobile revenues explode. As one of the most sought after speakers in the world on topics of the Internet, technology, content, gaming, gambling solutions, wireless applications and still more, we just had to have him speak at our show.''
``World Telemedia attracts entrepreneurs,'' added Mr Padgam. ``The successful ones have years of experience providing online services using telephone and credit card billing -- experience which a good many of the mobile networks lack. No other conference that I know of presently can bring all these service providers and network operators together as well to hear the message that sports and/or gambling are the likely killer applications in the mobile world today. The Sports Network has always looked beyond the short term. We believe that when Online Gaming meets Telemedia SMS in Amsterdam the impact will make World Telemedia into one of the key events on the international conference calendar.''
The conference and exhibition will be at the Golden Tulip Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, Amsterdam, from 17th to 19th April.
