World Cup Fever of a Different Suit at PokerStars.com

PokerStars.com, the world's largest poker tournament website, will host the 3rd annual World Cup of Poker (WCP) in Barcelona later this month. Forty players from around the world will face-off in a series of single table 'shoot-out' tournaments, with the winning nation decided in a dramatic four-handed grand final. The victorious team will win $100,000 and the title of 2006 World Cup of

Poker Champion.

The online qualifying events for the World Cup of Poker got underway several weeks ago, with 39 countries competing for the right to take part in the 'live' finals in Barcelona, Spain. The teams from England, USA, Canada, Brazil, Ireland, Iceland, Israel and Poland will consist of five players, who will all enjoy an all-expenses paid trip to Spain.

PokerStars.com Head of Communications Conrad Brunner says, 'The PokerStars World Cup of Poker reflects the international appeal of the game. Expect to see large numbers of qualifiers battling it out on PokerStars for a chance to represent their country and show the rest of the world how it's done.'
