|Mika Takahashi writes in Winneronline.com that Casino Fortune, a division of the Sunny Group of Companies, announced in a press release that it is discontinuing its use of the casino software long supplied to it by Microgaming. A Casino Fortune spokesperson said that a disagreement had come about as to the contractual percentages involved in their working relationship. But also, Microgaming’s random number generator, a feature by which gamblers win on the software strictly randomly, may be suspect. The number generator may not be truly random, although an audit of the feature by Price Waterhouse Cooper, an auditing firm, states that there is no such problem with Microgaming’s random number generator. |
Casino Fortune is not satisfied with that firm’s audit, it implied in the release, and seeks an ‘independent’ audit.
Playtech is to become Casino Fortune’s new software provider.
In something of a counter-attack, Microgaming has issued its own press release. The software supplier regrets the termination of its licensing agreement with the Sunny Group, but also states that the Sunny Group has not been settling fees owed to Microgaming for some time. Microgaming announced that it ‘... was left with no alternative but [agree] to terminate the Software License Agreement with the Sunny Group ...The termination was not taken lightly and was done with a heavy heart’, the Microgaming press release states. .
The Sunny Group of companies operates Casino Fortune, Mapau Casino, and Miami Beach Casino. Microgaming states it is assisting the casinos to ‘... finalize [their] data so that it can pay out its players.’ Microgaming admitted the license was terminated by the Sunny Group, but that the casino operator’s grounds for termination were ‘spurious.’ ‘The allegations made in support of these grounds in the release, are quite simply false, and are known to the Sunny Group to be false. Microgaming regrets that the Sunny Group has sought to hide its financial embarrassment in this manner,’ reads the Microgaming version of this event.
