Nevada Approves Internet Gambling
By nisha
The bill which will make Nevada the first state to offer Internet Gambling has passed yet another significant stage. Lawmakers in Nevada have finally given Internet Gambling their stamp of approval. On Monday (4th June) Governor Kenny Guinn approved the bill, which has now taken it out of the danger zone of being left until the Senate meets again. Nevada’s next step will be to ensure a smooth switch to Internet gambling and this will be largely down to the Gaming Control Board and the Gaming Commission who are responsible for drafting and adopting the rules. This in itself will require a great deal of time. Particularly because issues like underage gambling and gambling from states and countries that prohibit gambling will need to be addressed. The Justice Department have proclaimed that the sport is illegal, and its widely speculated that the court challenges could ensure a change in the federal government’s position. At present, its estimated that revenues from Internet gambling reached around $1.5 billion and is predicted to reach around $6 billion by 2003.
