|Online gambling company eBet has appointed former high profile Australian politician Neville Wran as chairman.|
EBet said the appointment, effective immediately, followed the departure of Michael Hale from the role.
Former New South Wales premier and ALP national president Mr Wran is also chairman of corporate advisory group Wran Partners Pty Ltd and chairman of listed technology and telecommunications group Powerlan Ltd.
He is a director at taxi payment technology group Cabcharge Australia Ltd and a senior adviser for investment and commercial bank SG Australia Ltd.
'Mr Wran ... brings a wealth of experience and success in government, the law and investment banking to the company and his appointment enables us to expand and strengthen the board at a critical and dynamic time in our development,' Mr Hale said.
'We have successfully dealt with many challenges since listing in late 1999 and are now positioned for very substantial growth within Australia and internationally, making the timing of Mr Wran's appointment ideal.'
Mr Hale reduced his commitments with the company to pursue personal business interests, but will remain on its board as a non-executive independent director.
eBet also confirmed the appointment of its chief financial officer-chief operating officer Edward Foy as executive director, which was previously announced.
EBet shares were up one cent at 21.5 cents at 1055 AEDT.
