Las Vegas Casinos are now waiting anxiously for legislators to decide the fate of Internet Gaming in Nevada. The bill, which was introduced into the Senate during March of this year by Republican member of the Nevada Assembly Merle Berman, will be deliberated for the final time today (June 4th) because the state’s legislature only meets every other year. Whilst many believe that the bill will fail to pass at the next hurdle, casino owners who have now switched positions and are in favour of legalized gambling are hoping that the sport will be legalized so they can reap the benefits of constructing online betting. It was widely believed by owners that online casinos would eat into their casino share but following their success, many casinos have now changed their minds and are now pushing for regulated gambling. Even if the legislation is approved, it will be a long time before well-known land based casinos leap onto the web. Until then, there is a legal tangle to unravel. US citizens make up more than half of online gamers, but many argue that technically Internet gaming is illegal in America under a law that bans gambling over telephone lines. So online casinos not only have to take into account the age of their gamblers, but also their location. Whereas the majority of Nevada is in support of online gaming, legislators in Australia and credit card companies Visa and Master card are furiously working to prohibit citizens from making transactions over the Internet by banning the usage of credit cards on the Internet
