|From May 15, the pool of state lotteries known as the Big Game will be joined by the New York and Ohio state lotteries, meaning an increase in the stakes that will cause the national game to change its name -- to the Mega Millions Game. |
Tickets will go on sale beginning May 15. Jackpots, accrued from participating state lotteries, are expected to average $80 million, but could surpass $500 million. Mega Millions tickets will be one dollar each and will be available only in the participating states, which are: Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Virginia.
Mega Millions will offer a minimum jackpot of $10 million. There will be nine ways of winning it, and the overall odds against players winning any amount of cash will be 43 to 1. Live drawings will be held every Tuesday and Friday in Atlanta, Georgia, at 11 P.M.
EDT. The first drawing will be held Friday, May 17.
The last drawing for the Big Game will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2002.
