|The Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) has issued to Littlewoods Leisure, Ritz Interactive and to WagerWorks, the online casino developer, the commission’s very first round of licenses for online gaming. |
Littlewoods Leisure, fundamentally a pools company, will reportedly open an online casino through its Isle of Man license, saving the Alderney license for ‘potential partnerships with third-party companies looking to break into the market’ and to develop new products.
Ritz Interactive belongs to the famous Ritz Club, in the Ritz Hotel in London.
Alderney is an offshore jurisdiction and as an online gambling licenser will challenge The Isle of Man for the lead licenser in regulated online gaming in the UK market. MGM Mirage, Littlewoods Leisure, Rank Organization and SunOnline have been licensed for online operations by The Isle of Man. The Marketing Manager of Alderney, Ilona Soane-Sands, said: ‘The Isle of Man is a competitor, but we believe we have stricter regulations ... We expect the first operation to be up and running in July.’
