|The British Gambling group William Hill have issued a surprise announcement, indicating that chief operations officer and executive director Tom Singer has resigned from his post on the board and will leave the company with immediate effect.|
A spokesperson for the company confirmed that Singerís departure follows a review of the company's key executive roles, which will now involve David Harding taking over the COO duties alongside his own responsibilities as Chief Executive Officer.
Commenting on his departure Singer reflected, 'After six stimulating years at William Hill and having recently seen the company report record interim profits I look forward to a fresh professional challenge.' However Singer did not allude to the nature of his future plans.
William Hill Chairman, Charles Scott commended the outgoing Singer for his contribution to the company, 'On behalf of the Board I would like to thank Tom for the contribution he has made to William Hill since our IPO, both as Finance Director and, more recently, as Chief Operating Officer. We wish Tom every success in the future.'
In other executive moves within the industry, Leisure and Gaming has announced that company executive Henry Birch is to be its new Chief Executive Officer, taking over from Alistair Assheton.
