|Many bizarre events have found their way into the Guinness Book of Records, not least ‘most rattle snakes held in the mouth’ (eight), and ‘most books typed backwards’ (56), but few have had such a worthy cause behind their madness.|
Matt Frame, a film director from Canada was sponsored by Golden Palace online casino in his attempt to break the Guinness world record for swimming whilst handcuffed, without the aid of a wetsuit or any assistance from a boat. Frame successfully navigated the 3.1 nautical miles from Koh Kteah to Serendipity beach in Cambodia to set a new official world record.
The unorthodox record attempt was made to raise awareness for the Joe Bodia foundation, a charity which Frame set up to raise money for underprivileged children in Cambodia, having lived there for nearly two years.
'Of course I am doing this for publicity,' explained Frame. 'We have tried conventional routes of fundraising but the results have been disappointing. Still, there are many people out there that will take the time to read about our goals and decide to help because they see the big picture.”
Richard Rowe, CEO of Golden Palace added, 'Many of the children in Cambodia are living well below the poverty line and we encourage everyone reading this to contribute whatever they can to help.”
