|Following the England cricket team’s disastrous start to the Ashes tour in Australia, online bookmaker and casino operator William Hill has priced the tourists at 80/1 to repeat the 2-1 series victory they achieved so dramatically last summer.|
The distant odds reflects the similar start to last year’s Ashes series when Australia took the first test comfortably but were then pegged back by a resurgent England side who eventually triumphed 2-1. And whilst England are a long shot to repeat that feat, they remain slightly more comfortable if not overwhelming outsiders to retain their title at 7/1, with a 12/1 price to win the series outright.
Australia on the other hand are strong favourites following their comprehensive victory at the ‘Gabba with William Hill offering 1/16 on them regaining the Ashes with a drawn series at 12/1.
The Aussies are already early favourites for the second test at 1/3 with England out at 6/1 and a draw at 7/2. Australia are odds on at 4/6 to regain the Ashes by winning the first three tests and a mere 2/1 to win the series via a 5-0 whitewash.
Other lines available include top batsman with Ricky Ponting a 5/6 favourite, followed by Justin Langer at 3/1 and Kevin Pietersen at 9/1. Shane Warne is evens to end up series top wicket taker while William Hill makes Glen McGrath 5/2 and England captain Andrew Flintoff an 8/1 outsider.
