NetPlay TV has announced the purchase of the world's first online-only lottery. The company’s acquisition of the charity lottery, owned by Chariot plc, will include a database consisting of over 280,000 lottery players.

Under the ‘Monday’ brand the site currently brings in approximately £50,000 of ticket sales per week, and Netplay’s takeover is the first move into offering further interactive games and eventually an interactive TV lottery game show based around the brand.

The game is set to go on air by mid February, until then it can still be accessed at and continue to be operated by Chariot. Commenting on the deal, Martin Higginson, Chairman and CEO of NetPlay TV, said, “This acquisition further enhances our position in the interactive TV gaming arena. Our mission over the coming year is to build a substantial interactive TV gaming company – this is just the first step in what we believe is a very exciting road ahead.”
