|The Toronto Raptors were looking like a pretty long shot at the start of the season, but as the weeks have gone by, no other team has delivered a more unexpected performance.|
Online odds for the Raptors have been around 150/1, but with Bryan Colangelo managing things, the Raptors have turned things around, and are now pricing in at 30/1 to win. If Toronto matches up with the Wizards, the Raptors will have even more of a chance. Wizards’ star guard, Gilbert Arenas is out for the rest of the season on account of knee surgery, and his team are looking aimless without him.
The Washington team have gone from 35/1 to 150/1 at various online betting operators. The New Jersey Nets and Orlando Magic have also had bookies lengthen their odds since November. Others in the same boat include Miami Heat – starting at 9/2 but now down to 10/1 on some sites. The Pistons are beside them, starting off at 5/1, but now 8/1. The Chicago Bulls have stuck fast with 30/1 since opening.
In the Western conference things are looking completely different. The usual leaders take the top spots: The Dallas Mavericks, the Phoenix Suns and the San Antonio Spurs. The longest odds are on the Mavericks, but still only 9/5.
