|India is celebrating after narrowly defeating a young England team at the sport of kings during the Asia Cup Polo, sponsored by online casino MaharajahClub.com.|
The polo match was played June 30th at a rainy and waterlogged Kirtlington Park Polo Club in Oxfordshire and concluded with an Indian victory of only half a point.
The Indian team consisted of Ajit Medtia, Raghav Raj Singh, Satnam Dhillon and Colin Dhillon and defeated an England junior team made up of players under the age of 21. The England team of Ed Magor, Eden Ormerod, Ashley Rake and Ryan Pemble scored five points but lost out as the Indians had scored five and a half points when the final horn sounded.
“The success of the Indian team was thrilling but I was very impressed with the young English players who displayed remarkable talent for a young team,” said Imran Hassan, Marketing Director of MaharajahClub.com.
The soggy conditions did nothing to stop the players from putting on an action-packed display, pushing their horses to the limit in a series of well-executed offensive charges, and India’s Satnam Dhillon, named player of the match, put on one of his most colourful performances to date.
The event was part of Celebrasian.co.uk, a series of events celebrating the very best in Asian culture and lifestyle in Britain and was followed by the Maharajah Ball. Celebrities from the worlds of sport, fashion and film mingled with guests and enjoyed Asian cuisine and entertainment during the event.
Among the celebrities who attended were India’s Cricketer of the Century, Kapil Dev, cricketers Ian Salisbury and James Benning, Chief Executive of the Hurlingham Polo Association, David Woodd, television and radio presenter Nikki Bedi and actors Raj Ghatak and Syed Ahmed.
