Britons Hoaxed By Canadian Lotto Win Claims
By Paul
The Huddersfield Daily Examiner reports that local police have discovered a clever scam that thrills Britons with the announcement that they’ve won big cash prizes in the Canadian lottery. But the good-news letters or phone calls they get are a ploy to induce the winners to pay “an administrative, transfer or release fee before any money can be sent.”

Detective Sgt. Battle said: ”Once they've paid, the victim never hears any more or receives the supposed prize ... I would advise people not to part with their money, but to ignore the temptation of apparent vast rewards. Don't respond to letters, cut short the calls and contact the police, who will be happy to advise them further.”
