|Casino Aztar, a riverboat casino in Evansville, Indiana, has come up with a novel new game – the free “Chicken Challenge”, which pits punters against a chicken in a game of tic-tac-toe. |
Despite the $5000 prize on offer, only five people have beaten the chicken – and that includes the same game at Aztar’s sister property in Atlantic City, the Tropicana Casino and Resort.
'It's possible to beat the chicken. But she is very good,' said Pam Martin, a Casino Aztar spokeswoman.
The hen always goes first in 'Chicken Challenge,' making her first choice -- an 'O' or 'X' -- by pecking on a game screen.
Human players viewing the same game screen from outside the machine make their own moves and then await the bird's next play.
Aztar will rotate 15 hens in and out of the 'Chicken Challenge' booth while the game is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The hens come from an Arkansas farm that's also prepared chickens for circuses.
Some of the chickens show a distinct lack of urgency in making their moves, but Aztar officials said the games will move faster as the hens grow accustomed to their new surroundings.
