|London’s PlayUp Interactive Gaming has announced that one lucky player won $20,000 via its 6Up mobile telephone cricket gambling game.|
Launched in June with the help of Australian cricket legend Shane Warne, 6Up rewards players that correctly predict the outcome of one ‘over’ of cricket.
Brian Gooding, a university student at Royal Holloway in London, predicted the outcome of one ‘over’ during a recent one-day international (ODI) match between England and India at the Edgbaston ground in Birmingham and won $10,000. He said that he had read about 6Up in a newspaper article and then visited the game’s website before taking part.
“I thought the concept of the game was really appealing and to predict the outcome of a cricket ‘over’ is much more fun than odds betting,” said Gooding.
“I love my cricket and sent my text to 6Up while I was watching the match on television. As soon as the ‘over’ ended, 6Up texted me back telling me that I had won and I nearly fell off my chair.”
6Up then sent Gooding tickets to attend the next ODI between the two sides at London’s Brit Oval ground and he repeated his feat, winning another $10,000.
