Singapore Police Make Online Casino Arrests

According to reports from News Channel Asia, police in Singapore raided three Internet cafes on Friday and arrested 18 people on suspicion of offering illegal online gambling.

During a three-hour operation, police stated that they seized 84 computers, 21 fruit machines and cash in excess of $13,700. Officials in the small island nation took 15 men and three women into custody following the raids at addresses along Geylang Road, Lorong 17 and Lorong 18. Following initial investigations, eleven of the 18 have now been released without charge.

Police stated that the remaining seven are to face charges in court under the nation’s Common Gaming Houses Act.
