Gambling Addict Convicted For Fraud
By sam
Gambling addict Shih Chun Sung was convicted of using other people’s names and social security numbers to rack up bills of hundreds of thousands of dollars with credit cards and checking accounts. Shih Chun Sung won almost $1million at the Barona casino in 1999 but within a matter of mere months he had spent all of his winnings. His gambling addiction was taken into consideration at his trial where he was sentenced to two years and three months in prison. The 29-year-old Sung had also spent a year in prison awaiting trial, and was one of 14 people charged in the case, all of which claimed to have an addiction to gambling. Sung was “extremely persuasive” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Jill Burkhardt and possessed a “magnetic personality, which he used to recruit others into joining the scam.”
