|For those of you who enjoy “a flutter on the dogs” (ie, a bet on dog races), betting options will broaden with the relaunch next Monday of Gaming Insight’s interactive TV greyhound racing channel gobarkingmad.|
The relaunch promises better functionality, with the crucial addition of interactive betting. The channel will be available on BSkyB’s digital satellite channel 414, offering pool betting via Gaming Insight’s proprietary technology.
Betting will be via the red button on the TV handset, which produces a menu of options within 10 seconds, allowing users to register and set up an account to bet via credit or debit card.
Gobarkingmad will broadcast 12 hours a day at launch, principally from the US and Australia. It has broadcasting rights to 66 tracks, including 7 UK tracks.
The launch will be supported by a six-figure media campaign on satellite TV channels and the Internet, featuring actor, ex-footballer and dog-racing fan Vinnie Jones.
Gaming Insight’s chief executive David Sanderson said: “Launching during the World Cup is the best thing we can do, because the BBC is engaged in the largest interactive TV sporting activity seen so far.”
Gaming Insight pays an annual licence fee and a share of betting revenue to BSkyB’s Sky Active division for the use of its interactive TV technology.
