Paddy Power Unfazed By Online Casino Ban
By Staff
Irish-based online betting group Paddy Power has played down the impact of a ban on Internet gambling in Germany and stated that it would soon be overturned by the European Union.

Paddy Power appears unfazed by the German states' ban on Internet gambling, which came into effect on January 1 and prohibits not only online gambling but also advertising such services. A spokesman this week has predicted that losses would not be significant in the context of the firm's overall group profits, which are expected to reach $88 million this financial year.

Paddy Power stated that it would be adding its voice to other European companies including major German firms who expect the ban to be overturned by the European Commission for non-compliance with the principles of free movement of trade and services between member nations.
