|Citadel Commerce, a subsidiary of Canadian online financial services company ESI Entertainment Systems Incorporated, has announced enhancements to its Citadel Direct payment solution to support instant and low-cost bank transfers for a range of nations.|
Citadel Direct is a payment solution that allows international consumers to securely pay for purchased items using local bank transfers. Customers log into their own Internet banking system and complete a payment transaction by initiating a bank transfer directly to a Citadel-owned account.
New enhancements provide consumers with the option of selecting Instant Bank Transfers or Rapid Bank Transfers. Instant Bank Transfers utilise a proprietary payment assistant that is downloaded to the consumer's PC and automatically completes required data fields on an online banking system followed by the immediate credit of any payment. Rapid Bank Transfer allows customers to manually enter their data with payments completed upon the receipt of funds into a Citadel bank account, which may take minutes, hours or up to a day.
Citadel Direct encompasses a ‘white-label’ payment interface that can be rapidly integrated into merchant sites along with a sophisticated automated back-end that supports and reconciles a large network of international bank accounts. It can handle foreign currencies and supports international treasury management functions. The facility presently supports payments from Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Spain and the UK.
'We believe that instant and low-cost local bank transfers for an international base of countries provides an extremely attractive alternative to credit card payments, which are expensive and expose both the merchant and the consumer to higher risk,' said Michael Meeks, President of ESI and Citadel Commerce.
