|Stockholm-listed online gambling software developer NYX Interactive has partnered with Trimark Gaming to launch AlphaBet Poker to players around the world.|
Developed by NYX, AlphaBet Poker is a new variation of poker played with words rather than traditional playing cards and appeals to both poker and word-game enthusiasts. Available over its new AlphaBet multi-player poker network, the Swedish firm stated that Trimark would operate the system and give online gaming operators an opportunity to take part with a multi-faceted marketing strategy.
AlphaBet Poker sees players dealt three hole cards, each bearing a letter and a corresponding letter value. Four community cards are then dealt in conjunction with rounds of betting and the object of the game is to compete for the best scoring words using any combination of hole and the community cards.
Traditional poker offers only ten possible scoring hands but AlphaBet challenges players to incorporate word skill and increases the number of possible scoring hands to over 74,000. NYX stated that this additional skill element makes AlphaBet engaging for poker players while also expanding the game’s appeal to the larger market of word and skill game players.
As part of the new deal, players will compete for free or for real cash in a common Alphabet networked poker room after registering at one of a number of participating licensee websites.
