|British gambling group William Hill have announced the appointment of Ralph Topping as its new Chief Executive Officer after a five-month hunt.|
The 56-year-old joined the group in 1973 and was most recently its Group Director for UK operations. He was appointed to the firm’s Board of Directors last year and replaces former Chief Executive Officer David Harding, who stepped down in September after announcing that he wanted to spend more time with his young son.
Charles Scott, Chairman for William Hill, stated that Topping's appointment was ‘first-class’ and that the company would benefit from his ‘deep knowledge’ gained over 30 years in the industry.
Scott said that he would now be withdrawing from his executive role after assuming control following the resignation of Harding last year.
'I look forward to leading the company as Chief Executive and to working with the Board and management team,” said Topping.
“We will build on the company's successes and drive the company forward.'
He stated that he was ready to face challenges arising from new regulation in the industry and underlined online business as an area that the company would look to further develop.
