|The Asian Poker Tour (APT) has announced its calendar of events for 2008 with stops in the Philippines, Macau, South Korea and Singapore.|
The APT kicks off in the Philippines from May 27 to June 1 where more than 400 players will battle it out for a share of the guaranteed one million dollar prize pool. The buy-in is $2,500 but players may also win their seat through online satellites, which will also include free travel.
This event will be followed by similar tournaments in Macau, Asia’s gambling capital, before moving on to South Korea before finishing in Singapore. Venues and dates for the last three events will be announced shortly with Manila-based show organisers ESL-Asia, a subsidiary of AsianLogic, stating that each tournament will offer a one million dollars guaranteed prize pool sure to attract poker players from around the world. Each event will also feature Internet qualifiers to ensure that online players can rub shoulders with some of the world’s leading poker professionals at each live tournament.
Poker has been growing in popularity in Asia for years and ESL-Asia stated that it plans to expand the APT to six events for next year. Additional information on the APT along with regular updates is available at AsianPT.com.
“The APT will definitely be a top-class brand,” said Chris Parker, Chief Executive Officer for AsianLogic.
“This is such an exciting time for poker players in Asia and we feel that with our expertise and skills we can make the APT a bigger and better series of events each year. From the four events that will take place this year, the APT plans to expand to a total of six events in 2009. We are continually working to set up some of the world’s most exciting and prestigious poker tournaments.”
