|The European Minister for the Internal Market and Services portfolio, Charlie McCreevy, has stated that it is 'inevitable' some of the cases concerning European Union (EU) Member States' gambling laws will go to the European Court of Justice (ECJ).|
The ECJ is Europe’s highest court and the former Irish Finance Minister stated in an interview with Forbes magazine that his office is in dialogue with certain EU nation’s that bar foreign gaming companies from operating.
“We have a lot of countries where we are at various stages of the legal procedures,” said McCreevy.
“We have a dialogue going on with some member states but for those where we cannot reach agreement we will proceed to the European Court of Justice. It's inevitable that some cases will before the ECJ.”
