|Casinos Austria International has reported record results for 2007 with aggregate revenues from its 66 global casino operations rising by 10.7 percent year-on-year to $1.72 billion.|
It stated that guest numbers for the year increased by 5.4 percent to 17.5 million and that these latest results represented the highest in its 30-year history.
'We are delighted with these results,' said Josef Leutgeb, Chief Financial Officer for Casinos Austria.
'The double-digit increase in revenues and further growth in visitor numbers offer continued proof of the quality and potential of our operations world-wide.'
Casinos Austria stated that highlights for the year included Swiss subsidiary Casinos Austria (Swiss) AG acquiring a 29 percent stake in Casino Lugano, increasing its number of casinos in Switzerland to seven, the largest portfolio of any operator. The firm also added four new cruise-based casinos to its portfolio on board Silversea Cruises’ Silver Wind alongside three luxury vessels of the Windstar Cruises fleet.
'With eight new casinos added to our portfolio, it has been a highly successful year overall for Casinos Austria International,' said Paul Herzfeld, Chief Executive Officer for Casino Austria.
'If you add that to the important steps taken in other markets to ensure continued future growth, we are very optimistic about the future.'
Last year also saw the company begin operations at the Grand Casino Beograd in the Serbian capital. Developed in co-operation with Club Hotel Loutraki of Greece and the State Lottery of Serbia, the property is the largest venue of its kind in South East Europe.
Finally, Casinos Austria also opened two further venues in South Africa, Silverstar Casino in Gauteng and Queens Casino in the Eastern Cape, in 2007 in partnership with Gold Reef Resorts Limited to bring its total number of resorts in the country to seven.
