Gambling OK in the UK
By Paul
A report by MPS on the House of Commons Culture Committee makes the claim that the liberalization of betting laws “will not result in a flood of new players getting hooked on gambling.” The report states: “We are not convinced that deregulation will create a huge new interest in gambling as a leisure industry, based on current customer demand, but have no doubt that the Government will create opportunities, particularly for casinos, to modernize existing gambling products to bring the UK industry in line with other jurisdictions.”

Church leaders and psychology professionals have expressed concern that the government’s ease on gambling restrictions, scheduled to be in full swing in the 2003-2004 session of Parliament, will result in an increase in problematic gambling in the UK.
