|Gamblers in the UK have been heading online in droves lately, a boom created by high profile sporting events such as the World Cup and Wimbledon championships. Both periods always create higher volume betting, but online visits for the period are up 15 per cent, according to research firm NetValue.|
They also said that British mothers accounted for 27 percent of all gamblers in June.
Questions about underage gambling still surround the websites, with a purported 24 percent of visitors being between the ages of 17 and 25. It is unclear whether visitors beneath the legal age of 18 were actually able to place a bet.
Those firms who have land-based operations were said to have seen the most gains overall during the month of June.
Outside of the UK, Norway and Germany have seen the biggest gains in Europe in terms of betting online.
