Victor Chandler Employees Released
By Staff
UK-based online casino operator Victor Chandler has announced that the 15 employees detained late last week by police in Malaysia have been released on indefinite bail and ordered to report before authorities again next Wednesday.

According to numerous media sources, senior officials from the Gibraltar-licensed firm are to fly to Kuala Lumpur to discover why the employees of its IT and customer services centre were arrested but not charged.

As reported last week, the operation was part of a wider crackdown by authorities on illegal gambling in Malaysia and neighbouring nations due to a rise in betting on the Euro 2008 soccer championships taking place in Austria and Switzerland. Authorities claimed the Kuala Lumpur operation was an international football gambling syndicate using Victor Chandler’s offices as a front in order to collect over five million dollars a month in bets from China and Europe.
