Website users will not pay
By Linda
Websites are continuing to have their dreams of profitability shattered by users reluctant to pay for their services.

The collapse of mass appeal sites such as Sports.com has illustrated the problem. Despite millions of users logging on each month, advertising, gambling services and e-commerce, the sports site was unable to make a profit.

Websites face resistance in their efforts to introduce subscription charges. Their users have grown accustomed to getting the site for free, and a convincing 90% say they won't pay a fee per article or buy a subscription.

Even those willing to pay do not have deep pockets. Only 1% of users will pay more than $10 (£7) for unlimited access to their most frequently visited content website, according to Forrester Research.
