UK-based NetPlay TV has announced the appointment of Michael Leggo as the Director of Television for its NetPlay TV Broadcasting subsidiary.

Leggo is the BAFTA-winning former Head of Light Entertainment for BBC Television and will oversee all programming for the firm’s television channels along with those of other broadcasters. The London and Lancaster-based firm revealed that Leggo’s brief is to bring mainstream editorial and production expertise to its expanding television operations and build further relationships with broadcasters.

“As our portfolio of our own television channels and shows for larger broadcasters expands, it is vital that our television is supported by someone of Michael's track record and reputation,” said Martin Higginson, Chairman and Chief Executive of NetPlay.

“We are delighted that he has agreed to join the company and look forward to working with him to build on the exciting platform we have created.”

NetPlay has access to over 24 million homes throughout the UK via its Sky Channel 847, Virgin and Freeview channels and is focused on delivering a converged interactive gaming experience allowing customers to interact with its games on a variety of platforms including television, Internet and mobile from a common integrated wallet.

“NetPlay's dedication to providing quality entertainment has already proved massively successful,” said Leggo.

“With ever more channels and platforms to cater for, this is a particularly exciting time to be joining the company.”
