WSOP Main Event Enters Day 1d
By Staff
So far over four thousand people have qualified, won or paid $10,000 to enter the most prestigious poker tournament in the world. Over the past three days, just under two-thirds of them have had a very early exit, failing to survive their respective ‘Day 1s’ due to bad luck or bad play.

Day 1d, the ‘final day one’, kicks off later today and will see all the prize money collected. The first-place prize and total prize pool should be announced this week.

This year has been dubbed the ‘year of the pro’ and to live up to that name, several well-known players are through to the second day of the tournament.

Brian ‘sbrugby’ Townsend, the renowned CardRunners instructor and high-stakes No-Limit Hold‘em and Pot Limit Omaha player, has made it to the second day with a healthy chipstack.

Brad Booth, Evelyn Ng and David Singer all have chipstacks well above the $100,000 mark. However, it is worth bearing in mind that tens of millions, not thousands, will be needed to reach the final table and have a shot at the glory.
