|So far over four thousand people have qualified, won or paid $10,000 to enter the most prestigious poker tournament in the world. Over the past three days, just under two-thirds of them have had a very early exit, failing to survive their respective ‘Day 1s’ due to bad luck or bad play.|
Day 1d, the ‘final day one’, kicks off later today and will see all the prize money collected. The first-place prize and total prize pool should be announced this week.
This year has been dubbed the ‘year of the pro’ and to live up to that name, several well-known players are through to the second day of the tournament.
Brian ‘sbrugby’ Townsend, the renowned CardRunners instructor and high-stakes No-Limit Hold‘em and Pot Limit Omaha player, has made it to the second day with a healthy chipstack.
Brad Booth, Evelyn Ng and David Singer all have chipstacks well above the $100,000 mark. However, it is worth bearing in mind that tens of millions, not thousands, will be needed to reach the final table and have a shot at the glory.
