Legal Reform in the UK – 13th & 14th November 2002, London
By Linda
Six months ago, the UK made an announcement that rocked the international gaming industry, proposing to relax the laws for gaming and regulate online gambling. Instigated by the Budd Report, when the final terms are agreed the UK will be the first G-7 nation to provide a regulated environment for online operators, opening up an enormous range of new business opportunities.

On the 13th & 14th November 2002, the third European Online Gaming 2002 takes place in London, bringing you up-to-the-minute news about developments in the UK; including more detail about the government’s proposals and the timescales involved.

The first morning of this year’s event focuses exclusively on the implementation of the Budd proposals, with a Keynote Address from the UK Government Minister responsible for their introduction – Richard Caborn, Minister for Sport at the DEPARTMENT FOR CULTURE, MEDIA & SPORT – plus the response from the global gaming industry.

A specialist panel of speakers will also discuss the emergence of the UK as a leading online gaming jurisdiction, the impact of legal reform on the UK’s landbased industry and the knock-on effect to other European jurisdictions.

Over the full two days of the event, the conference programme will examine many of the key issues and challenges for the online gaming market, including; customer acquisition & retention, international barriers & opportunities, creating new consumers for online gaming services, plus a wide range of branding & marketing issues.
