The last leg of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour was held in the Luton Grosvenor Casino last night with the best part of £1,000,000 dished out to the most skilled players.
The final three players were James Mitchell, who started with 1,100,000; Sam Pickett with 1,200,000; and Dave LaRonde on 1,500,000. The deal split the remaining prize money three ways for £60,000 each and the winner receiving £35,000.
LaRonde dominated the three-way match and Mitchell dwindled in the face of relentless aggression. He was the first casualty, pushing in with 7-3o and receiving a call from Pickett’s 66. The latter hand held up and James left third.
Heads-up was a short affair, with LaRonde getting it in as a 3-1 underdog; his A-7 dominated by Pickett’s A-Q. The flop bought both an Ace and a Queen and LaRonde was officially drawing dead on the 2 turn. Picket won £106,050; a seat in the GUKPT Grand Final and a Tutima watch.
