|Brian Sandoval, the chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission, has scheduled a two-day conference concerning the technological, legal and economic issues within the online gambling industry. The conference is expected to concentrate mostly on the technological aspects of online gambling, and how it can be regulated to prevent children, addicts and fraudsters from participating on Nevada based sites. The five-man panel must also decide whether online gambling is legal in the United States and if so, how the regulation within Nevada would take place.|
Two Australian experts have been flown in to demonstrate the techniques that have been used in Australia to insure security and system testing as part of state regulation. There will also be discussions regarding the casinos interest in web betting, and identity verification procedures.
Internet companies keen to prove the viability of regulation to online gambling swamped the conference with offers to demonstrate their technology according to Sandoval, who said, “We couldn’t invite the individual businesses because we’d have to invite them all.”
