Case Begins Against Alleged TV Quiz Cheats
By Earl
The Guardian newspaper reports that British Army Major Charles William Ingram, 39, his wife, Diana, 39, and Tecwen Whittock, 52, head of Business Studies at a college in Wales, were presented at Bow Street Magistrates Court over charges that they cheated to win the jackpot on Independent TVs quiz program, “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”

The trial is set to commence August 28.

Major Ingram won the £1m jackpot on this top hit show earlier this year, but his award was soon challenged as it was alleged that he was coached from the audience by Whittock. He has yet to collect the money.

Quite interestingly, Mrs. Ingram, also a lecturer, and her brother, who is Whittock, had previously each won £32,000 secondary prizes on the same show.

Mrs. Ingram has also written a book on how to win the £1m top prize.
