‘Huge Proportion’ of Nebraskans Demand Electronic Gaming
By Linda
A group of Nebraska citizens have written a petition toward bringing gambling to Nebraska that would include electronic gaming devices, not craps or card games.

The petition that is currently circulating in Nebraska aims to legalize this type of casino gambling in the state.

'This gambling petition - 180,000 people signed this petition - that's almost 20 percent of the registered voters in the state,' Stormy Dean Democratic candidate for Nebraska Governor said. 'That's a huge proportion of people that are willing to sign a petition.'

He feels the Democratic Party should let those people decide issues such as gambling. He wants the issue on the November ballot.

'When you combine the drought, the economic downturn and everything else, the state of Nebraska is in a tough spot,' the Mr Dean told the Times-Herald.

'We continue to tighten the belt, cut back and shave the tops off of programs like education and the university system. 'While we may have to make those kind of cuts in the very short term, but, in the long run, those are the things that are going to drive the economy in this state.

'We've got to come up with ways to make it profitable for people to live in small towns in Nebraska.'
