The European Sports Security Association (ESSA) has announced top management changes with David Pittel taking over as its Chief Executive while Khalid Ali will serve as Secretary General.

Brussels-based ESSA is an industry body committed to legal and responsible sportsbetting and works to keep wagering free from insider betting or bet rigging and manipulation.

Taking over from Pittel, Ali will now be responsible for managing and promoting ESSA’s interests with European and international organisations and regulatory bodies. He previously worked as the Account Director of Corporate Communications for London-based public relations firm Weber Shandwick and has experience with a variety of international companies and political institutions.

'We are very pleased to have Khalid join us at ESSA,” said Pittel.

“He brings a tremendous set of skills that will be incredibly valuable in helping us establish ESSA as the guardian of sports integrity.”

Members of ESSA include major European sportsbetting companies such as Bwin, Digibet, Expekt, Unibet, Party Gaming, Sportingbet, Interwetten and Betbull and the organisation has the support of the European Betting and Gaming Association.
