In Norway, Norsk Tipping AS has announced that Torbjorn Almlid will take up the role of Chief Executive Officer for the State-owned gaming operator from January.
Almlid stated that he would dedicate himself to ensuring that Norsk Tipping’s social responsibilities and services are performed in a conscientious manner.
“I view the opportunity to lead Norsk Tipping AS as an exciting and challenging task,” said Almlid.
“It is vital to succeed in maintaining the crucial balance between commercial success and social responsibility. This is the whole basis for Norsk Tipping’s monopoly. With many of Norway’s best-known and highly popular products, the company ensures that good social causes receive major contributions year after year without creating major social problems. It’s precisely this multiplicity that makes this job both unique and challenging.
“Norsk Tipping is well known for the high level of expertise among its employees and not least its enviable reputation. This provides an excellent platform for our continued success in the future.”
Almlid is a qualified veterinarian and holds a Doctorate in genetic illnesses. He worked as a researcher before serving as Chief Executive Officer for The Innlandet Hospital Trust. The 58-year-old native of Trondelag also worked as Managing Director for pig breeding firm Norsvin for ten years before moving to bio-innovation company Biolnn where he served as Managing Director for one year. In 1999, he accepted the post of Managing Director for The Feiring Clinic Limited before later being appointed as the Managing Director for Health Region East.
“Torbjorn Almlid has all the qualifications necessary to successfully lead Norsk Tipping through the challenges we will doubtless face in the years ahead,” said Sigbjorn Johnsen, Chairman for Norsk Tipping.
“He is an excellent leader and has the ability to create space for development and growth within the framework in which the company operates.”
