You could be mistaken for thinking that what with the UIGEA looming over the US and Kentucky’s recent furore regarding online gambling, the industry is looking bleak.
However, if online casino software designer Playtech’s latest figures are anything to go by, the online gambling industry is flying high – the reports for the third quarter indicate a massive surge in revenue.
'This has been another strong quarter for the group in what is traditionally the slowest period of the year. The addition of new licensees combined with organic growth during the period has resulted in continued growth across all business divisions,' said Chief Executive Officer for Playtech, Mor Weizer of their increased growth.
Revenues from poker increased sixty per cent to $9.5m but casino revenue was up to $26m, way above the $15.2 given last quarter.
