Olympic Gold Medallist Michael Phelps To Join DoylesRoom?
Record-shattering Olympic champion Michael Phelps has long been known to have a soft spot for the game of poker, even expressing his desire to enter the prestigious $10,000 No-Limit Hold ‘em Main Event at the World Series of Poker.
These rumours flew ever-stronger after Phelps and friends had dinner with professional poker players Todd Brunson, Doyle Brunson, Hoyt Corkins and Jennifer Harman. This led to strong industry rumour that Phelps would sign for DoylesRoom, the poker site of poker legend Doyle Brunson.
'If [Michael Phelps] is going to endorse an online poker room, it's going to be Doyle's,' one poker insider said. Doyle Brunson himself was full of praise for the seven-time world-record-holder and 14-time-gold-medal-winner.
“'What a great feeling it must be to be 23 years old and on top of the world,” said the elderly multi-millionaire. “I had dinner last night with Michael Phelps. What a nice kid! Phelps and some of his friends wanted books so I took Super System 1 and 2 to them and they asked all kinds of poker questions. Michael said all he wanted to do in life, was to eat, swim and play poker.'
