European Poker Tour Crowns First Italian Champion
By Staff
After a roller-coaster ride in which Salvatore Bonevana came to the final table with the chip lead, lost it, re-took it, lost it again then moved back into the front during heads-up before finally taking down the tournament.

With his victory, despatching countryman Massimo Di Cicco in an hour-long heads-up match, he became the first Italian EPT winner and €774,000 richer.

Following that intense sixty minutes in which the chip lead fluctuated between the two Italians, Bonevana won the day against Di Cicco when the latter moved in with A-4o on 8-3-2 and Bonevana called with 8-7 for top pair against a straight draw and overcard. Bonevana’s hand held up and he took down the tournament.

The list of final table players and their payouts is below:

1. Salvatore Bonavena -- €774,000

2. Massimo Di Cicco -- €445,000

3. Andrew Alan Chen -- €257,000

4. Francesco Cirianni -- €166,000

6. Fredrik Nygard -- €130,000

7. Nasr El Nasr -- €99,500
