New Attorney-General Is Gunning For Online Gambling
By Staff
The Obama administration might not be the Messiah it was hoped for with regards to the online gambling industry. Despite the President-elect’s lenient stance on the matter, as well as his love of Texas Hold ‘em, soon-to-be-Attorney-General Derek Holder is a supporter of the UIGEA.

In a conversation with US Senator Jon Kyl, Holder confirmed his belief in the controversial anti-gambling laws. Holder agreed with Kyl’s prediction that “under [Holder’s] leadership the Department of Justice would continue to aggressively enforce the law against the forms of Internet gambling that DOJ considers illegal.”

Regarding the UIGEA’s stopping financial transactions, Holder affirmed that he would be “vigilant in enforcing those regulations to shut off the flow of cash from this illegal activity.”

Senator Kyl was heavily involved in the pushing through of the UIGEA.
