Leading online bingo site MeccaBingo.com has signed an agreement to sponsor English professional rugby league football club Wigan Warriors for the upcoming season with an option for a second year.
The Lancashire side’s red and white hooped home shirts will now feature MeccaBingo.com’s logo on the front and back, replacing giant sportswear retailer JJB Sports as the main sponsor. In addition, a new blue away strip is being launched displaying the bingo site’s logo and should go on sale to supporters this month.
'MeccaBingo.com is proud to be so closely involved with Wigan Warriors as well as the sport of rugby league,” said Mark Jones, Managing Director for owners Rank Interactive.
'The club has an enviable heritage and is recognised as one of the most prestigious and successful rugby league clubs in the world. We look forward to supporting the Warriors in their efforts to achieve success on and off the field.'
The 18-time champion Warriors also extended a sponsorship agreement last week with Wigan-based bookmaker Tote Sport Limited for a fifth consecutive year. ToteSport.com has been the club’s official betting partner since 2006 and will have it logo emblazoned on the sleeve of the new home and away shirt for next season as well as on the back of the side’s home and away shorts.
'We would like to welcome MeccaBingo.com on board as our new main sponsor,” said Mick Hogan, Chief Executive for Wigan Warriors.
'It is particularly pleasing to have such a well-known, national organisation in partnership with the Wigan Warriors for the 2009 season.
'They have very exciting plans to engage our supporters in ways that will add to their match day experience at the JJB Stadium. We look forward to a very exciting season for Wigan Warriors and MeccaBingo.com.'
