Virginia Online Gambling Raids
By Staff
Police in the southern American state of Virginia seized over 60 computers alongside nearly $3,000 in cash and office equipment following raids on four Internet cafes on Monday.

Officials in the rural town of Martinsville stated that an investigation into illegal online gambling in the area resulted in them executing four search warrants and seizing 66 computers alongside $2,835.

According to Lane Perry, Sheriff for Henry County, patrons at the businesses could swipe a card in exchange for any dollar amount although he admitted to not knowing whether credit cards were involved. He stated that this amount was then converted into ‘tokens’, which were then allegedly used as wagers to place bets on a number of games with winnings redeemed in cash.

Perry revealed that officers had been observing the businesses for a few months but stated that no arrests had been made and that the investigation was ongoing.
