Australian gambling and entertainment group Tabcorp Holdings Limited has expanded its portfolio of international racing include French thoroughbred flat and jump meetings.

Beginning tomorrow, Sky will broadcast two French meetings every Tuesday night with the races being wagered on by the New South Wales and Victorian TABs.

France joins Tabcorp's stable of regular international racing from Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, New Zealand, Japan and Britain. The first meetings will include a trotting event from Vincennes in Paris alongside a jumps meeting from Pau.

Events from Britain and South Africa will support the French meetings to take Sky's coverage of South African racing to five days a week and British racing to four days a week.

'International racing continues to grow in popularity among our customers and we are delighted to be adding French racing to our weekly schedule,' said Robert Nason, Managing Director of Wagering for Tabcorp.

'Racing continues to become more global and Tabcorp is at the forefront of ensuring Australian racing is relevant in the international racing community. Tabcorp is also providing another first with the regular import of harness racing from a world-class trotting circuit. This brings benefits to harness racing fans and the harness racing industry.'

Nason said the introduction of French racing was important to the Australian industry as it gives domestic race clubs the opportunity to broadcast their meetings in France in return.
