Lottomatica Entering Turkish Lottery Tender
By Staff
Turkish media-to-energy conglomerate Dogan Holding has announced that it will partner with Italian giant Lottomatica in order to tender a bid for Turkey's National Lottery.

The two released a statement early last week announcing the signing of a memorandum of understanding that would establish a joint venture to bid for the right to operate the National Lottery.

Lottomatica is one of the world's largest commercial lottery operators and a market leader in the Italian gaming industry.

The privatisation process for Turkey's State-owned National Lottery is expected to begin in August, following the enactment of a bill on financial control.

The National Lottery has a 32 percent market share in Turkey with annual turnover of $683 million and net profits of $189 million. Other Turkish firms rumoured to be considering a tender include Koc Group, Cukurova Group and Is Yatirim.
