Offshore betting on Sopranos
By Paul
Offshore sports books are proving the best at offering odds on just about anything – from Oscar winners to hot-dog eating contests, but we like this one. Wiseguys in betting parlance are high-rolling sports book customers, but in the argot of the Mob, a wiseguy is someone who invariably ends up “whacking” someone – or getting “whacked” (killed) himself.

So it’s somehow fitting that is offering offshore betting wiseguys the chance to bet on which mob wiseguy gets offed next in the new season of the HBO mob drama, which premiered Sunday.

Leading the betting is Ralph Cifaretto, never the most sympathetic of characters, who is listed at 5/6 favourite to get the bullet – or the cement shoes. That means that bettors have to put up $6 to win $5.

Uncle Junior, whose cancer is in remission, is listed at 8/5 odds. A bettor would win if the character dies of natural causes -- not that it happens too often in a mob family.

Next on the list is Furio Giunta, the pony-tailed Sicilian muscleman, at 2/1 odds.

Paulie Walnuts and Christopher Moltisanti are listed at 3/1 and 4/1, respectively.

As for the main man himself, you can get 10/1 odds at that Soprano family boss Tony Soprano will swim with the fishes.
