|Ukbetting is to integrate GIG’s live sport-betting system, SportXction, into its wagering web sites. It owns and runs sportinglife.com, bettingzone.co.uk, Teamtalk.com and Totalbet.com, among others. |
The launch is set for November this year, initially running on ukbetting’s football (soccer) channel. There will be a live bet section with a pop-up that presents real-time betting options for events, such as corner kicks, penalties and goals.
Punters will be able to place a bet online while they’re watching a live or televised game or listening to a radio broadcast.
Eric Semel, chief executive of ukbetting, said: “This is a great strategic partnership for us. We believe it will widen our audience and strengthen our position in the market.”
Previous GIG owners KirchMedia invested $20 million (£12.9m) into the operation, which was acquired in July for $460,000 (£296,871) by software company Interactive Systems Worldwide (ISWI).
ISWI originally sold the worldwide distribution rights for the platform to KirchMedia for $240m (£155m), which was to be paid over 14 years. GIG will share revenues, while ukbetting will market the service. It will be extended to sports such as cricket, tennis, golf, racing, snooker and darts.
In September last year, GIG signed a deal with cable firm Telewest to provide real-time, interactive, in-picture sports betting.
